In the gaming account buying market, there are two completely different types of accounts: legal accounts (capacity) and hacked accounts. Unfortunately, many people confuse the two, while in terms of risk, they are completely different.
What is a legal (capacity) account?
As we explained in the article What is a Capacity Account?, this type of account uses an official feature from Sony (Console Sharing and Offline Play). The game was actually purchased from the official PlayStation Store and is completely legal. There are no legal violations, no suspicious software, no manipulation.
What does a hacked account mean?
Hacked accounts are accounts that gain access to games through unauthorized methods (such as cracked software, exploiting security holes, or even stolen accounts). These methods have nothing to do with the official Sony system.
Why is a hacked account dangerous?
The first and most important risk is a permanent ban of your account or even your entire console. Sony is constantly identifying and banning suspicious accounts — and when that happens, you lose both the money you paid and access to your entire game library (even the ones you actually bought yourself).
Additionally, many hacked accounts come with no warranty — meaning there's no support behind them if they stop working tomorrow.
How do I know if an account is legitimate or not?
The easiest way is to buy from reputable and well-known stores that clearly explain their method of operation (i.e., the official capacity account), offer a real guarantee, and have responsive support. If a seller offers a price much lower than the market average and does not provide a clear explanation of the type of account, it is likely that it is hacked — and it is better not to take the risk.
