Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the first new installment in the classic Onimusha series after a twenty-year hiatus (the last installment, Dawn of Dreams, was released in 2006), developed by Capcom itself on the RE Engine and released on September 4, 2026 for PS5 (with support for PS5 Pro).
Unlike previous versions that revolved around the character Samanosuke Akechi, this time the protagonist is the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi (with a face inspired by the famous Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune). The story takes place in Edo-era Kyoto, a city infected by ominous clouds called "Malice" and filled with monsters called Genma. Musashi gains the power to destroy these monsters by obtaining a mysterious object called the Oni Gauntlet; along the way, his rival, Sasaki Ganryu, stands in his way.
Unlike the Soulslike genre, the game's gameplay focuses more on direct and precise sword combat — with techniques like Parry, Deflect, Issen (a one-hit kill), and absorbing the souls of defeated enemies.
